Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using CFA ('the Platform'), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ('Terms'). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CFA.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Platform. Your continued use constitutes acceptance of any updates to these Terms.
Description of Service
CFA is a community-driven platform for environmental issue reporting, verification, and coordination. Our services include:
- Submitting reports of environmental issues with photos, location, and descriptions
- Community verification of reported issues to build trusted data
- Connecting verified reports with NGO partners and civic responders
- Data exports for partners to enable resource allocation and response
User Accounts
You may use CFA with or without a registered account:
Account Registration
You must provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
Account Security
Choose a strong password and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We are not liable for losses from unauthorized account use.
Anonymous Access
You may submit reports anonymously. Anonymous reports use session-based tracking and can be claimed by registering an account within 7 days.
Account Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through account settings.
User Content
You are responsible for all content you submit to CFA, including reports, photos, and verifications.
License Grant
By submitting content, you grant CFA a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content for the purpose of operating the Platform and coordinating environmental responses. This license continues even if you delete your account, for content already shared with partners.
Content Responsibility
You represent that you own or have the right to submit all content, and that it does not violate any third-party rights, including privacy, intellectual property, or other legal rights.
Content Moderation
We reserve the right to remove, modify, or restrict access to any content that violates these Terms or is deemed harmful, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.
Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use CFA in a lawful, ethical, and respectful manner.
Prohibited Activities
- ✕Uploading illegal content or using the Platform for unlawful purposes
- ✕Harassing, threatening, or intimidating other users or community members
- ✕Submitting intentionally false, misleading, or fraudulent reports
- ✕Including sensitive personal information about others (faces, addresses, IDs) in reports
- ✕Spamming, automated submissions, or manipulation of the verification system
- ✕Attempting to interfere with Platform operation, security, or other users' access
Verification Guidelines
Verification is central to CFA's trust model. When verifying reports, you agree to:
- Verify honestly based on your direct observation or knowledge
- Not verify your own reports (the system prevents self-verification)
- Only verify reports in areas you can reasonably assess
- Remain objective and not let personal relationships affect your verification
Intellectual Property
The CFA platform, including its design, code, logos, and branding, is owned by CFA and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Platform without written permission.
Aggregated, anonymized data from the Platform may be used for research, reporting, and advocacy purposes. Individual user data is protected under our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
No Guarantee of Resolution
CFA facilitates reporting and coordination but does not guarantee that any reported issue will be resolved. Response depends on partner availability, resources, and priorities.
Service 'As Is'
The Platform is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Service Availability
We strive for continuous availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Platform may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
CFA and its officers, directors, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CFA and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Abuja, Nigeria, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in such courts.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be notified via email (for registered users) or prominent notice on the Platform at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
